The CompTIA® A+ test (220-302) is also said to be an entry level exam for the computer professional,
but don't let the word entry level fool you, as well don't let the fact that CompTIA® states at their web site that 500 hours of experience is most common for the A+ test applicant.
When looking at the test objectives one must know DOS, Microsoft® Windows 9x, 2000 and XP. Taken a step further one must know Novell® NetWare and have experience with Apple® as well as Unix and Linux operating systems.
That is a lot of experience to get in 500 hours, especially if you got the hardware experience in the same time frame.
For this test we strongly suggest to candidates that are new to the field and without a bunch of computer experience don't rush out to take this test if you have passed the A+ hardware exam, and the reason is because there is not an expiration on the A+ Hardware test.
In the past, when you took the hardware test you had 90 days to complete the A+ software test or, the Hardware portion became invalid, and this is not true anymore.
In todays world, with world competition certification is a must and obtaining the CompTIA® A+, and Network+ Certifications certification has it’s
benefits benefits.
