AT (Advanced Technlogy) Motherboards
The AT (Advanced Technlogy) motherboards are a derivative of the original IBM XT (Extended
Technology) motherboard. Motherboards may also be referred to as a Planer board, or circuit board.
AT (Advanced Technology) is often times referred to as full AT, measuring in at (12” X 13.8”).
The Baby AT was physically smaller, measuring at 13” X 8.7”.

The voltage was provided by an AT Power supply, rated at; ± 5 VDC, and ± 12 VDC. A P8 and P9
connector was used to power the motherboard.

The ISA (Industry Standard Architecture) and the EISA (Extended Industry Standard Architecture) were
commonly seen on the AT motherboard.
Typically the Din 5 connector (5 Pins) for the keyboard was the only connector that was located on the
motherboard. A mouse or other peripheral required an expansion card.

AT form factor was extended to utilize LPX (Low profile extension) motherboards, which used the bus riser cards (daughter cards), for expansion. These motherboards were used in the desktop PC versus the tower. The ATX Motherboard is also tested, on the CompTIA® A+ hardware test.
