IEEE Standards
802.2 standard defines the Logical Link Control sublayer of the Data Link layer. In essence it is the adding of header fields in the frame for the receiving host. It defines LLC, which is error detection, and flow control.

802.3 defines Ethernet standards. It outlines the access method; collision sense, multiple access with collision detection (CSMA/CD), speeds, and physical topologies of Ethernet.

802.4 - Token Bus network that was (still is) popular in factories. Tokens are used as the access method. Easily confused with 802.5 on the exam.

802.5 standard defines Token Ring, but is not the actual IBM Token Ring.

802.11 defines wireless technology. It is important to remember that when working with 802.11b its access method is CSMA/CA and it is a logical bus.

802.12 VG-AnyLan provides data rates up to 100Mbps on CAT 3, 4, or 5 cabling. The demand priority access method is used.
