There are a few variations of the Ring Topology.
- Standard Ring
- Token Ring
- FDDI (Fiber Distributed Data Interface)
We will start with the standard ring, which you will probably never see in the real world, but it may be on the test.
Pros and cons.
- A Ring Topology like the exhibit will give absolutely no fault tolerance.
- This type of network will also be difficult to troubleshoot, if not a down right nightmare!
The next topology will be Token Ring (IEEE 802.5).
