Winipcfg Command

To find IP configuration with Windows 9.x perform the following:
Start --> run --> winipcfg
After typing in 'winipcfg' press the enter button.
The following dialog box will open. Notice the Release All, Renew All, and More Info radio buttons.

Although there is not a wealth of information here you do get the MAC address, IP address, Subnet mask, and Default Gateway if they are available.

This is also the location where that the IP address may be released and renewed with the DHCP server.

Selecting the More Info radio button open the expanded IP configuration dialog box, where that WINS, DNS, DHCP, and lease information may be viewed.

We are expected to know how to get here and have a rounded idea of the information supplied with the winipcfg command when working with Windows 98 for the CompTIA A+ software exam.
The ipconfig command is used with Windows NT, Windows 2000 and XP.
